TRANSMISSION PAN GASKET
Transmission Pan Gasket : Most automatic transmissions have a lower pan that uses a transmission pan gasket to seal. A transmission pan gasket is made of gasket material such as rubber, cork, paper or silicone. The transmission pan gasket seals the lower transmission pan to the transmission. This keeps the transmission fluid inside the transmission and helps seal the transmission tight. Some transmission repairs require removal of the transmission pan to access the valve body, transmission filter, shift solenoids and internal speed sensors. After a transmission pan has been removed, a transmission pan gasket is usually replaced.
The transmission pan gasket is usually replaced when an internal transmission filter is replaced. Signs of a bad transmission pan gasket will include leaking transmission fluid from the pan area.
