OIL PUMP GASKET
Oil Pump Gasket : The gasket required to seal the oil pump housing to the oil pump and or the engine. These gaskets can be made of paper, rubber or o-rings. When there is a problem with the gasket, the oil pressure can leak internally or externally depending on the oil pump design. Oil pump gaskets do not usually fail however, getting any oil leaks checked and repaired should be a priority if there is a problem.
Oil pump gaskets are critical to keep maintained. Any loss of oil pressure can take out the engine causing the consumer thousands of dollars. An auto mechanic familiar with the vehicle should be able to tell most oil pressure gasket leaks upon an inspection.
