This valve is not used on all vehicles but it is important to be operable otherwise you may experience heat at the wrong time or no heat at all.
Heater valves can be controlled different ways. A cable, vacuum and electric servos are all types of ways a heater valve use to switch on or off the coolant flow. A problem with a heater valve can also include a coolant leak, no heat or heat on all the time.
